Addressing Jellyfish Concerns

While some individuals may have concerns about jellyfish, we take every possible step to minimise any need for worry. In many seasons, there have been no serious jellyfish stings reported off the Ningaloo Reef. Although jellyfish stings do present a risk to swimmers in most parts of Northern Australia, the risk on the Ningaloo Reef is significantly lower compared to the Great Barrier Reef. By effectively managing this risk, we ensure your safety.

Our team at Ningaloo Whale Shark n Dive, diligently manages the jellyfish risk to our customers and crew.

Our staff is extensively briefed and trained on recognising symptoms and providing the best treatment. We have well-established processes to handle stings of varying severity. As soon as the risk of jellyfish stings arises, including the Irukandji species, we provide passengers with full-length stinger suits that cover the entire body.

Additionally, we work closely with the Department of Parks and Wildlife, emergency response services, and other whale shark tour operators to ensure a rapid, effective, and professional response to any emergency situation.

Mitigating Seasickness Concerns

Seasickness can be a genuine concern for a minority of our guests, either due to a predisposition to motion sickness or the weather conditions on the day.

Our vessel is specifically designed for maximum stability in the weather conditions along the West Coast of Australia. It offers a comfortable and spacious environment, allowing customers to spread out throughout the day.

While we guarantee that Ningaloo Whale Shark n Dive will not operate tours in unsafe weather conditions, some tours may proceed in safe yet inclement weather.

These conditions may include rain, a cold wind, or swimming with whale sharks in relatively large swells and winds. It is essential to be prepared for seasickness, especially if you believe you may be susceptible.

While we will do everything possible to ensure your well-being during the tour, we cannot control the weather conditions on the day.

Effective Medications for Seasickness

Before embarking on your tour, we strongly recommend consulting your doctor / physician to discuss the range of prescription medications available. Pay attention to the following critical aspects:

* How to take the medications effectively

* When to take them for maximum effectiveness

* Possible side effects and how to manage them

Ask your pharmacist for the best medication that’s right for you for motion sickness. Know not all medication we have noticed may work for everyone.
